Episode Summary
Kagome Higurashi has been told many stories by her grandfather, such as the one about the Shikon no Tama (The Jewel of Four Souls) and never believed them until her fifteenth birthday, when she is pulled down a dry well at her shrine by a centipede demon. She emerges from the well to discover she’s not in Tokyo any more, but instead, she’s in Feudal Japan.

I will not claim this is the best Anime, but I believe it could have been and is definitely worth watching. What I am going to write are my own feelings and opinions and in no way do I wish to reflect on or judge the experiences of others. 70% of this anime is Great. Love her or hate her, Kikyo is one of the most fascinating character ideas out there. The story of Sango and Kohaku is truly heartrending and also just fabulous. The leitmotifs for some of the characters are really exquisite. Naraku is creepy and a very ‘good’ villain. Also, many of the regular demons in the show are creepy in a very entertaining way as well. The story is moving and enduring throughout the entire show.
Now the bad parts, again in my opinion. Shippo, the flea guy, Master Jakken, etc., are just too sickly sweet “cutsie” and take away from the overall quality of the show. That is my own personal gripe with much japanimation. Kagome reflects the Japanimation obsession with “school girls in panties”. And inuyasha and kagome, while not bad characters are not quite as interesting as the supporting characters themselves. The actual dialogue and specific ways the plot is driven in the show (the way some monsters are defeated, etc.) can get very boring.
Nevertheless, there are so many good characters, so many good stories, and some real questions of good and evil, loyalty and love, that I think this is still one of the best animes out there. If a couple of my above criticisms did not apply, I would confidently state that it is the best.

im not really a fan of inuyasha, anymore, but i used to stay up till 5:00 just to see it on adult swim. i like this show.
this is anime is one of my favorite it’s really great. I like it when Kagome gets jealous with Kikyo and Inuyasha. And i hate it when Naraku gets to escape all the time.
